Today is the first day of February. I am still unpacking from CHA and smiling because I had a chance to hug and kiss many of my friends. The floor was full of beauty, colors, smiles, fun and creativity… I loved every minute of it!

I had the honor to present Kiki Art in the Canadian workshop organized by the brand new Canadian Section of the CHA and had a wonderful time meeting people from all over the world!! Here is my good friend Bettina from My Stamp Box and Kelly Panacci (she and her husband are so incredible nice!!!) on our first day at CHA….

I can believe I am already home. I better get to bed now. See you very soon!

A little bit more than a year ago I begun this great journey with many dreams and ideas… I got carried away with all of them wanting to achieve every single goal at the very same time, because after all I AM A WOMAN and I can multitask!!! Right?

Well… not exactly accurate. I am a woman, and we are great!! that is true, but sometimes we have to much and we don’t realize we are exhausted until late. This past summer a few different things got somehow complicated at home, adding to the usual already happily complicated life that I have (story for another day) but the point is that I found myself a little bit overwhelmed with chores, deadlines, work, kids, home, studies, new puppy, blah blah blah etc… and then I had to think and, of course, eat some chocolate to keep the thoughts flowing and be able to make decisions in order to improve the situation.

First decision… begin to run (to burn all the chocolate ingested to fight the mild depression)

Second decision… simplify things in my work and life

Third decision… make time to stop and breath, enjoy my family, my friends (many are in my design team – I love you girls-), remember to pray and be grateful for what I have.

So… why am I sharing this with you? well… following the line of thinking ruled by the second decision mentioned above, I decided to unify the three Kiki Art blogs English, French and Spanish with three different teams in to only ONE with only ONE team.

Why did I have three teams in the first place? I believed before and I still do that having a blog exclusively in Spanish to express the unique cultures of Latinamerican artists through scrapbooking is a great idea to allow readers to appreciate everything a lot more. (and the same with English and French) but I just didn’t/ couldn’t have the time and energy to follow through with all three blogs the way they and their artist/designers and readers deserve it .

The new “merged” KIKI ART Blog will be launched on the 1st of February 2011. (around the same time as CHA winter 2011). It is next year and seems far away but it is almost very soon already!!! look, the counter I have added at the right side of the blog, showing the time left for the new BLOG to be seen. Don’t you think those seconds are moving a wee bit too fast?

In the meantime all Kiki Art blogs (English, French and Spanish) will be working but at a slower pace because a lot of things are happening behind the scenes and in my life too.

I have made some other decision and I am sure you are going to love them all… but that is topic for another post.

BESOS,

Kiki

When I saw these awesome glitter puzzle pieces by Kiki Art I knew I wanted to make a game with them so I started brain storming. I also love to recycle and people always give me old containers because they know I will reuse them and when I got this big container from a friend I knew exactly what I could do.

I decorated the container with the coordinating paper from the Familia Collection. Then I added a simple title with 3 of the glitter chipboard pieces.

For the game I used the rest of the puzzle pieces covered the backside with paper and added numbers from 1 – 12 on them to create a simple math game.

To play the game you pick two pieces from the container and for my youngest he adds or subtracts them and my oldest has to multiply them. Sometimes we do a race to see who can answer it first. I find my kids always learn better when they think it’s a game.

Thanks for stopping by today – have a great day!

My kids through their inquisitive minds challenge me every single day to view life from a different vantage point. I love that! I apply this principle to my everyday life… be it resolving kid related issues, cooking without all the ingredients in my pantry or scrapbooking! Yes you heard it right, scrapbooking! How do I do that you might ask??? Well, instead of using the papers in a collection, I look to see how I can mix and match between collections. It really is that simple … to look at life from a different vantage point. Here is my layout…

My cousin recently had twins, a girl and a boy, and I wanted to make some cards for them. I love the quilt look for baby cards so I took some scraps of my Kiki Art papers and with the help of the stitch fun tapes turned them into a quilt.

For the girl card I used pink colors all from the Amor collection. I also added a pink ruffle and scallop edge for a finishing touch.

For the Boy card I used blue, green and yellow papers all from the Jardin collection. I also added a green ruffle to this card.

To make it look more like a quilt I used the Kiki Art Fun Tapes, there are two stitch designs and I used them both. They are super easy and fun to use!

Hello everyone! Einat Kessler here with another Lo for you. Summer almost moved on here, but it’s still hot and I’m waiting for winter. Every year we try to do something fun to celebrate the end of summer or at least the end of the summer break (school year starts on Sep. 1st). This year we went to the beach for the whole day. We had such a good time and I took a lot of photos. I especially like these two photos of the sunset, when I saw them I immediately thought of this line from A-ha song: “summer moved on”. I designed this page in the same spirit as my summer fun Lo, because I thought they would look great side by side.

It’s a bit difficult to see I used Perfect Pearls around the circles and on the page to give my sunset a little more glow.

The journaling sais: “Summer is almost over and summer break is nearly finished. We celebrated its end with grandma and grandpa on the beach, had a nice picnic and couldn’t get enough of the water even when the sun almost set. What a way to end the summer!

Hello to all of our lovely Kiki-Art fans! Can you believe we’re at the end of summer already and the kids are starting a new school year! Wow, does time fly by or what? What a whirlwind this summer has been, just like it was in the summer of 1998. That is the year I was married to the man I love. Just yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. We’ve been together for a long time, fifteen years total, and have survived through thick and thin, good times and bad. We grew up in the same town and not too far from each other. We even shared some of the same friends and attended the same schools, but somehow we never connected with each other until our senior year of high school. It was on a Friday I believe, after school hours, when our paths happened to cross. I was in the school building waiting outside the theater to pick up some friends after their play practice. Jason, my husband, was also there to pick up some friends at the same play practice. Only he was locked outside the building and I was able to let him in. We then proceeded to spend the next hour or so waiting on our friends and chatting up a storm. When I opened that door for him I had no idea that I was opening up the door to my future. That fateful day was October 26, 1995 and we’ve been stuck together and glued to the hips ever since! That is with the exception of us being separated during his Naval deployments. It’s been a crazy and adventurous past twelve years with this soul mate of mine. You wouldn’t think a relationship like ours would last that long considering that he is an extroverted Aries, a fire sign, and I am the introverted Cancer, a water sign. Fire and water don’t normally mix well, but when they do the bond is strong. I love ya babe! Happy Anniversary!

I love making gifts for friends and families so when my niece was having a birthday I wanted to make her a special present.

I bought a frame from the thrift store and painted it. I then added some paper from the JARDIN collection inside the frame and added a photo. To add another dimension I added some of the JARDIN paper to the outside of the frame and along the bottom as well. To personalize it I also added her name along the bottom.

It’s hard to believe it’s nearing the end of August already! It’s true what my parents have always told me…the older you get the faster time flies!
I always love it when my parents share stories with me and my kids, from when they grew up, and some of the favourite stories we love to hear are from my mom. Her father was a lighthouse keeper, and she spent her summers out in the middle of Lake Superior in Northern Ontario. She loves all things with lighthouses on them, so for her I made some cards like this one!

Isn’t that China collection glittery embossed paper absolutely perfect with this soot stamped image?
It’s a bit of a finicky technique, but I highly recommend you hit youtube and look up soot stamping. It’s fun to do and a little adicitive.
Make sure to use some fabulous KikiArt paper or funtapes with your soot stamping, and leave a comment linking us to your blog so we can see what you’ve done with this fun technique and KikiArt!

Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT Monday!
Jillian

I love Old Navy and when I saw some colorful coasters in the summer discount bin I knew they would make great covers for a mini album. The colors were perfect for the new Sunny Bay line of paper that I got free with my Scrapbook Magazine.

This line is so bright and fun. For the inside pages I used the great journaling tags on one page and added a photo and embellishments on the other page.

I also loved all the sea critters you could cut out and add as embellishments but I think the turtle is my favorite!

I added some of the Kiki Art Fun Tape to this mini album too – it’s so fun to work with and adds a cool wave like frame to this photo.

So head on over to Scrapbook Magazine and get your free Kiki Art kit!
