It’s Katrina here. Hope everyone is looking for Kiki Art in you local scrapbook store. And if you don’t find it, be sure to ask. Lots of fun things are coming in the near future from Kiki Art and you want to be able to get your hands on them! There is a list of stores (that is GROWING!) to the side of retailers that are carrying Kiki Art. How great would it be to get your local store on that list!
Well, my post for today is an altered item. I used to be scared to alter anything…thinking it wouldn’t turn out the way I wanted. I decided that I need to get over that and just get down to work!
I found this paper mache letter K at a local crafting store and thought how fun it would be to alter it. I bought it with no plan in mind, which is usually the way I buy most things. hee hee So, I got it home and it sat there for awhile. Yep, I was terrified to do it! Then, the call was on for Kiki Art projects for CHA and I thought how fun it would be to have a K in the booth! So, I jumped in and got busy with it.
I first painted the entire thing with some off white acrylic paint. I then decided to use the Magica Collection. I thought the bright papers in smaller border strips would be so cute. And a couple of the papers: MÁGICA Arbol Mágico D and MÁGICA Burbujas y mariposas were great, since they are strips of different colors! I punched the borders, inked their edges, and then started measuring all the different parts. I first did the tall part, since this was the biggest. I cut borders for it to fill it all the way to the top and to get a pattern. The the angles I worked on to try to get the papers even with the tall part. It’s not as complicated as it sounds. Then I added some strips around the sides, the tulle/button flower and called it done!
So, here is a fun thing for you! Challenge your self to do a little altered art! You might find it’s fun. And it will be even more fun with some of the great papers that Kiki Art has!!!!
Have a Scrappy Kinda Day!!~~Katrina
